52ft Cruiser Stern, Reverse Layout Steel Narrowboat. Built by Stoke on Trent boatbuilders in 1991.

After four years, and many adventures and quite a bit of renovation I am very sad to be hanging up my windlass and floating cork keyring. The Golden Wren was fit out by Barry Wren before operating as a hire boat throughout the 90's. Apart from the bedroom, which was refitted to amplify storage and improve its suitability to liveaboard life, much of the original wood work remains. This is a boat with generous storage and options for outdoor space. It is heated by a boatman stove and a radiator.

The boat is heated with a gas boiler (calorifier) and a boatman stove and powered by a 1.5 BMC engine (last serviced July 2025) and two PV panels. All 12v but is fully wired for 230v if you wanted to add it (previous owner was marina based). Cooking facilities are gas and the bathroom is a wet room with a pump out toilet (kept for my convenience but could be unscrewed and replaced with a compost unit).

One small double bed (some height-related accessibility issues as I designed it to fit a bike and clothes storage underneath). There is also a sofa that pulls out into a second double.

No permanent mooring - Have spent four years continuous cruising mostly in London but also cruised the length of the Grand Union and around Staffordshire, Warwickshire, Oxfordshire and the Thames. Currently located in Central London.
