Amethyst

My name is Amethyst and I am a Cruiser style Narrow boat born 1993 and 45 feet long. My lady live-aboard owner takes care of me and has done so for nearly 20 years. My cratch covers on the front and back were getting shabby and one of the zips was not as zippy as it should have been. She ordered two new cratch covers, tailor made for me out of lovely strong green material with new frames and everything, they fit perfectly and keep the wind and weather out.

In the winter she lights the Morso Squirrel 1410 multi burner with back boiler that warms us up keeping us nice and cosy.

I have a Smeg gas oven and hob a 12v fridge with a small freezer compartment and lovely cupboards with an oak worktop.

I love floating on the water my lady live aboard keeps me clean and tidy inside and out and I like to watch her when she is feeding the ducks over the side. It feels just like being on holiday.

We used to go out for a short chug up and down the canal, stopping at a pub or somewhere to have a picnic whenever we wanted, then one day the engine thingy didnt want to go. She doesnt really know anything about engine thingys to be able to fix it so eventually got someone to have a look. The head gasket was suspected and the head was sent away, reconditioned with new valves and reassembled. Then a new battery was needed and still wouldnt start up. It has been left ever since and she lost interest in it and stopped worrying about it because now we are very happy being able to stay on our own mooring and carry on just enjoying living in the marina feeding the ducks as usual without it.

She does know its a Lister Petter LP3 engine with a PRM 150 gearbox. My diesel tank capacity is 40 gallons.
It will make a good project for someone to complete the job.

I have electric hookup, and a solar panel, giving me the best of both worlds.

I had my bottom blacked in August 2023 and had new anodes fitted. I have a bubble tester in my gas locker and my latest safety certification was completed February 2025.

I can be lived in as I am, especially in my lovely marina. You would need to discuss that with the marina team if you wanted to do the same.

I have a 150 gallon water tank capacity, 12v lighting, 12v water pumps and 240 volt sockets throughout. I have two gas bottles, one of which was bought October 2026.

The bathroom, has a china bowl Thetford cassette toilet and a separate fitted shower and vanity basin.

I have a fixed double bed with plenty of room underneath for storage.

My walls have polystyrene insulation, and pine tongue and groove. My windows are Hopper with aluminium frames.

I have a gravity fed radiator in the bedroom, and the copper pipe acts as a radiator, keeping us very snug.
